As a key worker, I feel exposed being around people as part of my role and Sarah has always been there to answer my questions, provide support or just to chat. What makes for a great manager?
They Care

Management isn't about grinding out results irrespective of the cost. Great people managers Care about the people that they work with. They respect their team members as people who have lives outside of work and show genuine interest in them as individuals - management is about people and the Great Managers care about people.

They Talk & Listen

Conversing involves two things. Ensuring that your people are well informed as to what is going on - not keeping them in the dark engages them and helps a team be a great team. Listening to your team members is equally, if not more important. Your people have a voice, it's important to encourage them to use it and contribute. There's a reason people have one mouth and two ears!

They're Considerate

Being Considerate of the people that you work with can often be overlooked as we are all so busy! Supporting your team members when they need help, and recognising the great work that they do can be the difference between a manager and a Great Manager.

They're Motivational

Motivation is what makes things happen and it takes a special person to be able to motivate, energise and inspire a team. Selling the vision and direction of an organisation and ensuring that their people understand how they fit into the bigger picture is what makes a Great Manager help make things happen.

How do we know this?
